The reigning king of Carnarvon is out to take over Geraldton on Sunday in the $100,000 Geraldton Cup.
Wayside won the Carnarvon Cup last year, and is one of the fancies in the feature on the Geraldton Turf Club calendar.
He is coming off a second to Infathuated at Ascot a fortnight ago and now needs to jump to the 2100m.
Shaun McGruddy will be in the saddle starting from the perfect draw of barrier three.
“He is looking for the trip now,” co-trainer Todd Harvey said.
“It would have been good to get another 1800m run under his belt, but the barrier really brings him into the race.”
A leg injury caused the son of Choisir to miss a run this campaign, but he now goes into the race fourth up.
“He is in good order now and he is a good light weight chance.”
The Geraldton Cup is race eight on the program and scheduled to be run at 4.50pm.
