Due Sasso mare Kemilee made it two wins in a row with victories at Ascot on the 30th of January and the 13th of February. Kemilee has returned to racing in fine style after a long absence from the track. Kemilee showed great promise as a 2yr old winning her first start on Perth Cup day in 2011 in impressive fashion, after a spell she returned to racing in the winter and ran a solid 3rd at Belmont but pulled up sore with a suspensory ligament injury. Kemilee was then spelled at Mungrup Stud for 12 months, and returned to training at our Ascot base. Kemille was then nearly ready to trial on her come back and tragedy struck! She dumped her rider at Ascot track work and ran through a running rail and completely opened up her chest, a shocking injury! Kemilee had over 100 stitches to her chest and had to have box rest for 3 months with as little movement as possible. Kemilee was nursed back to full health at our Ascot stable and most of the credit must go to our vet Mike Davies as well as our staff Amie, Mel and Steve. To get Kemilee back to the track let alone winning is an amazing achievement by all involved. Ridden to perfection by Troy Turner in her two wins Kemilee really is in top form. Kemilee's owners Lex and Shirley Piper need special mention also, they have both had great patience and faith in Kemilee and the Harvey Racing team and deserve all the success that comes their way with their smart mare. Kemilee is a half sister to the Piper owned and Harvey trained Lachino a prolific winner of 9 races and 11 places for well over $300.000 in stake money. Lets hope all the hard work and patience pays off with Kemilee and she can emulate her older brother Lachino.
