Trial Report: Lark Hill 3/06/14
Jun 04, 2014
Heat 2: Let's Go Lakers
Heat 2: 950m | FP: 2nd (of 8) | Jockey: Clint Harvey
Jumped well and shared the lead (rail) in the early stages. Shared the lead (rail) with another runner on the turn and appeared full of running when still in front swinging for home. Was tested with the whip when challenged shortly after straightening, and he responded fairly well to hold down 2nd placing, beaten 2.3L.
Let's Go Lakers is ready for the races now after two encouraging trial performances this campaign. We will find a suitable race for him in the coming weeks.
Heat 3: Testa Forte
Heat 3: 950m | FP: 4th (of 5) | Jockey: Clint Harvey
Jumped ok but was allowed to find his feet early, setltling 5th (rail). Held a similar position on the turn and was being asked to improve when 4th (rail) swinging for home. Was tested with the whip shortly after straightening and improved onto heels, before fading over the final 100m to finish 4th beaten 3.8L.
Testa Forte trialled satisfactorily but he did appear to run out of steam towards the end, which may be a sign that he is getting close to the end of his preparation. We will assess him over the next few days before deciding on the next step forward.
Heat 4: Raging Ride
Heat 4: 950m | FP: 8th (of 9) | Jockey: Clint Harvey
Slowly away and was allowed to find her feet early, settling 9th (2-wide). Lost touch with the main bunch on the turn and was under pressure and a fair way from the leaders when 8th (2-wide) swinging for home. Was never in contention in the straight and was eased down late to finish 8th beaten 16.5L.
Raging Ride has done a great job this preparation and will now head to the paddock for a minimum six-week spell.
Heat 5: The Flirt
Heat 5: 950m | FP: 2nd (of 7) | Jockey: Clint Harvey
Jumped well but was unable to drop in to the 2-wide line early and settled down 3rd (3-wide) without cover. Held a similar position on the turn and was travelling well when 3rd (3-wide) swinging for home. Was under a good hold until asked for an effort with 150m to go and worked home nicely for a closing 2nd beaten a short head.
The Flirt is a very promising youngster and we were thrilled with his trial performance. Unfortunately, it appears as though he has pulled up shin-sore following Tuesday's outing and he will have to go to the paddock for a minimum six-week spell.
