Preview: Northam 2/06/14
Jun 02, 2014
Race 1: 2-King Cool (Clint Harvey)
King Cool competed in a strong two-year-old maiden on debut at Pinjarra 22/05 and performed well to finish a length second behind Kim Excel.
Was coming off a 38-day break between his last trial and raceday, which wasn't ideal, and we think he will strip much fitter for today's assignment.
Drawn to get the run of the race and we expect him to prove very hard to beat.
Race 5: 12-Golden Prophetess (Clint Harvey)
Golden Prophetess showed good gate speed first-up at Albany 8/05 last start, racing outside the leader before fading over the final 200m to finish 10th.
Faces a tough test jumping from a wide barrier second-up today but she may appreciate being ridden a bit quieter. Will get back but we would be happy to see her pass a few in the straight and finish better than midfield.
Race 6: 6-Pago Minx (Clint Harvey)
Pago Minx showed a return to form with an encouraging fifth in a similar assignment to this third-up at Northam 15/05, running on well in the straight after being worse than midfield on the turn.
Probably could have finished even closer had he not lost momentum when held up behind heels on the turn, and it was a vastly improved performance after finishing down the track at Bunbury 21/04.
Has a handy barrier draw and we may have found the key to him last start by riding him from behind. Has ability when in the right head-space and he's capable of filling a place in this.
