Trial Report: Lark Hill 19/05/14
May 20, 2014
Heat 1: Testa Forte
Heat 1: 950m | FP: 1st of 4 | Jockey: Clint Harvey
Commenced awkwardly but quickly regained his balance, quickening to lead passed the 200m. Travelled well and led comfortable at the 100m before being eased down to hold on and win the heat by a short half-head.
Testa Forte did very well at his first public appearance, winning his 400m heat at Lark Hill.
Testa Forte was slightly tardy out of the barrier, but was quickly balanced up by rider Clint Harvey and driven to the line to score narrowly. He will take a lot of experience from this trial and will only get better from this point onwards.
We are very pleased with the effort and he will now progress to a 1000m trial. Should the horse pull up well he may trial again at Belmont next Monday May 26.
Heat 1: Raging Ride
Heat 1: 950m | FP: 3rd of 4 | Jockey: Troy Turner
Jumped away only fairly but worked through the gears to be 2nd passing the 200m. Was soon under hard riding but responded well, making up good ground over the final stages to finish 3rd beaten a half-head.
Raging Ride was having her first trial outing since October and produced a satisfactory performance, closing late for a close-up third behind stablemate Testa Forte.
She will now step up to a 1000m trial at Belmont on Monday May 26.
Heat 2: Let's Go Lakers
Heat 2: 950m | FP: 2nd of 8 | Jockey: CLint Harvey
Jumped well and landed in front, stretching out to hold a comfortable lead passing the 200m. Appeared well balance when finishing off this heat and was eased down over the final stages to finish 2nd beaten 1.0L.
Let's Go Lakers 400m trial this morning at Lark Hill was impressive.
Let's Go Lakers bounced out of the barrier smartly and gather speed quickly in the first half of the trial. Rider Clint Harvey held the horse together who looked to be traveling strongly over the final 200m and ran second narrowly, but Clint had plenty of horse in reserve.
Let's Go Lakers will now progress to a 1000m trial, perhaps at Belmont next Monday May 26, should he pull up well. Following his 1000m trial we will select a race for Let's Go Lakers first race start.
Heat 2: The Flirt
Heat 2: 950m | FP: 3rd of 8 | Jockey: Troy Turner
Jumped away okay and was niggled at early to hold his position, responding well to share 2nd passing the 200m. Was soon shown the whip and lengthened stride nicely before being eased down over the final stages to finish 3rd beaten 1.5L.
The Flirt trialled very well this morning at Lark Hill to finish third in his 400m heat at Lark Hill.
The Flirt began well and was held together by rider Troy Turner in the first 200m before being given rein over the concluding 200m to hit the line hard with some in reserve. The Flirt is really impressing us this campaign and he will really appreciate stepping up in distance.
The Flirt will now progress to a 1000m trial maybe at Belmont next Monday May 26. Following his 1000m trial The Flirt will be ready to race and we will select a mission for his first start.
Heat 2: Iron Maggie
Heat 2: 950m | FP: 4th of 8 | Jockey: Willie White
Jumped well and showed good gate speed to hold a forward position in the first 200m and was not knocked around over the final 200m, finishing 4th beaten 4.5L.
Iron Maggie stepped out for her first trial outing at Lark Hill yesterday and she did a top job to finish fourth. Was well looked after by rider Willie White and we expect her to improve significantly following that trial experience.
At this stage we are looking at stepping her up to a 1000m trial at Belmont next Monday May 26.
