Trial Report: Lark Hill 28/04/14
Apr 29, 2014
Heat 1: Miss Fathful (Clint Harvey)
Heat 2: 400m | FP: 5th of 5 | Jockey: Clint Harvey
Commenced awkwardly from b1 but picked up the pace to share the lead early, before fading over the final 200m to finish 5th beaten 3.8L.
Letz Av Fath wasn't too far away at the finish of her trial and she will step up to a 1000m trial at Belmont on Monday 12.
Heat 2: Letz Av Fath (Clint Harvey)
Heat 1: 400m | FP: 5th of 5 | Jockey: Clint Harvey
Slowly away from b1 and was beaten for speed early to be last at the 200m. Failed to improve over the final stages to finish a fading 5th beaten 9.3L.
Miss Fathful was never really in contention after botching the start and we will give her another opportunity to display something in a 1000m trial at Belmont on Monday May 12.
Heat 5: My Dirty Secret (Clint Harvey)
Heat 5: 950m | FP: 3rd of 8 | Jockey: Clint Harvey
Jumped well from b2 and landed in front before sharing the lead with the horse to her inside, over-racing in the early and middle stages. Shared the lead on the turn in a fast-paced trial but had begun to lose her position when 2nd (2-wide) swinging for home. Nursed to the 200m before being asked for an effort and working to the line evenly to finish 3rd beaten 6.0L.
My Dirty Secret appeared to fire up with the addition on blinkers in Monday's trial and as a result wouldn't really settle for jockey Clint Harvey. She still boxed on reasonably well in a very fast run trial.
She is ready to head to the races now and we are looking at starting her in a Westspeed 2YO Maiden (1100m) at Northam on Thursday May 15.
Heat 13: Blustery (Clint Harvey)
Heat 13: 950m | FP: 8th of 10 | Jockey: Clint Harvey
Slowly away from b2 but picked up the pace early to settle at the tail of the field, before working through between runners on the turn to be 7th (4-wide) swinging for home. Nursed to the 200m before being asked for an effort, beginning to improve before being held up behind the heels of a tiring runner and losing momentum at the 100m. Working to the line under a strong hold to finish 8th beaten 4.0L.
We were very happy with Blustery's improved performance and she would have finished several lengths closer had she not been held up in the straight.
Is ready for the races now and we are looking at nominating her for the Northam meeting on Thursday May 15.
Heat 15: Ghana Gold (Clint Harvey)
Heat 15: 950m | FP: 4th of 5 | Jockey: Clint Harvey
Jumped okay from b4 and dropped in behind heels to settle 4th (2-wide) behind the leading pair. Improved on the turn to be on the leading pairs' heels when 4th (3-wide) swinging for home. Angled out into the middle of the straight (better going) on straightening and responded fairly to hard riding, working to the line to finish 4th beaten 2.5L.
Ghana Gold had been working well prior to this trial and we were happy with the way she performed, especially when you consider it was the first time she had seen a rain-affected track.
Still has further improvement in her and she will trial again over 1000m at Belmont on Monday May 12.
