Race 1: 4-Pago Minx (Troy Turner)

Thoroheads Summary

Race 1: 920m; FP 6th of 8; Troy Turner; W2.60 P1.60
Jumped okay from b5 and was urged forward to share the lead in the early stages before coming back underneath his rider to settle 2nd outside the leader from the 600m. Was being asked for an effort when 2nd (2-wide) turning for home but failed to accelerate in the straight, working to the line evenly to finish 6th beaten 2.0L.

Trainer's Say

Pago Minx was a shade disappointing but may not have been entirely suited being ridden as aggressively as we chose to. He never really came up for air over the short-course 920m and we perhaps would have been better suited debuting in a 1200m event, where they don't tend to go as hard early.

We will press on with him and step him up to a 1200m maiden for his next assignment.

Race 6: 5-Detroy County (Clint Harvey)

Thoroheads Summary

Race 6: 1100m; FP 7th of 8; Clint Harvey; W7.00 P2.20
Jumped well from b2 and was sent straight to the front. Held the lead outright until being challenged from the 600m and was sharing the lead when railing for home. Was under pressure shortly after straightening and failed to accelerate, working to the line evenly over the final stages to finish 7th beaten 3.0L.

Trainer's Say

Detroy County jumped straight to the front and enjoyed a pretty comfortable run, however, she couldn't kick off the turn and struggled after being headed shortly after straightening.

We thought she was probably entitled to race a bit more competitively against that company and we will assess this filly's future in the coming weeks.

Race 8: 5-Who’s To Blame (Clint Harvey)

Thoroheads Summary

Race 8: 1700m; FP 1st of 11; Clint Harvey; W3.90 P1.60
Jumped well from b6 but was eased back behind heels to be positioned 9th (2-wide) going past the winning post. Dropped down to the rail around the bottom turn and railed through to be 8th entering the back straight. Held a similar position in transit before improving inside runners to be right behind the leaders' heels turning for home. Angled outside heels at the top of the straight and looked a winning chance, showing a turn of foot to hit the front before holding on late to win by a Head.

Trainer's Say

Who's To Blame was well ridden and dug deep over the final stages to win a race that she was no doubt the best horse in.

Good to see her back in form and we will assess her in the coming days before making a firm decision on where we will head next.
