Champion jockey Lucy Warwick was elated after riding Vermont Lady ($17) to victory in the $30,000 TABTouch Regional Championship - Road to Ascot event last week.

On Wednesday, Bunbury Turf Club punters watched as Vermont Lady settled eighth in a field of 14.

Hopes of victory faded when the chestnut mare passed the turn in ninth.

Moving out from the middle of the field, Warwick and Vermont Lady then thundered down the home straight to secure the win.

Vermont Lady finished a nose in front of trainer Paige Kenney’s other entrant, Flower of Scotland.

Earlier in the day, Warwick and Royal Strata ($6) crossed the line a short neck in front of Our Mate Al in the 1675m Spencer Signs Handicap.

Warwick’s third victory came in the final race of the meet – the 1400m Bunbury Bus Hire Handicap.

After settling sixth and holding fifth past the 800m mark, she and Friarandice ($6.50) moved up to third past the turn.

Friarandice went on to finish two-and-a-quarter lengths ahead of second-placed Eliza’s Dream.

Trainers Robert and Todd Harvey were ecstatic after Shaun McGruddy led race favourite Stormy Ora ($2.05) across the line first in the 1000m SW Ceilings Handicap.

The brown mare was in a good position past the turn, right behind Ice Maker and It Comes Natural.

In a thrilling finish, Stormy Ora crossed a short neck ahead of Ice Maker and a neck in front of Indigo Wild.

Bunbury Turf Club will hold its next race day on Sunday, November 25.
