WAYSIDE AND SAVERIO SECOND UP
Aug 18, 2017
Three and a half years since his race track debut, Saverio gets arguably his best chance to taste success at Belmont in the Get The TABtouch Maiden (1200m).
He is second-up this preparation and has drawn barrier eight before scratchings.
Co-trainer Todd Harvey hopes he can find cover closer to the speed this time, in contrast to his eye-catching run first up when Saverio was forced to snag to the back of the field.
Matthieu Autier sticks with Big Sav, who was $3.90 with TABtouch on Friday night.
He travels to Belmont with Wayside who is also second-up.
He also caught the eye first-up after being trapped wide in a race that was run slowly.
Wayside avoided trouble and made ground late and now he steps up to the 1600m in the WA Bookmakers Association Leading Apprentice 2017/18 Handicap.
Shaun McGruddy will again jump aboard, and with just 54kgs on his back, Todd said he should be hitting the line hard again.
