A PRO WIN BY THE KNIGHT
Apr 26, 2017
A Knight Of Pro justified the stable’s high opinion of him with a strong victory at Ascot on Wednesday.
The son of Proart was fifth-up this preparation and it was a well deserved win after three consecutive placings.
He has been sent to the paddock for a short freshen up before a few more runs at Belmont.
“We are thinking maybe a Belmont Guineas start, but it might just come up on us a little too quick,” co-trainer Todd Harvey said.
“The win will do his confidence the world of good.”
Jumping from barrier 12, Shaun McGruddy took the three-year-old gelding to the front of the field.
The Geraldton Cup winning jockey had the 12 other runners off the bit at the corner and kicked for home.
A Knight Of Pro’s official winning margin was three and a quarter lengths.
“I do not think he has to lead to win, but he puts himself in races and he is a genuine Saturday horse,” Harvey said.
“He will get out to 2000m eventually.”
In just his second preparation, he has built a record of one win, two seconds and a third from six career starts.
