Race 4: 15-Bremer Babe (Shaun McGruddy)
Race 4: 1400m | FP: 9th of 16 | Jockey: Shaun McGruddy | STAB: W43.50 P8.00
Jumped well from b4 and was sent forward to share the lead early, before handing up passing the 1100m and settling 3rd (rail). Held a similar position in the middle stages before shifting out into the 2-wide line on the corner, turning for home 4th (2-wide). Loomed as a contender when angling outside heels at the top of the straight, but she peaked on her run at the 200m and worked to the line evenly to finish 9th beaten 4.0L.
Bremer Babe turned in a satisfactory debut performance on Sunday and she actually got our hopes up for a few strides in the straight, but she just didn't quite finish off over the final stages.
Will improve with that run under her belt and we will now head towards a Three-Year-Old Maiden (1400m) at Bunbury on April 9. We will look at stretching her out to 1600m third-up if everything goes to plan next start.

Race 8: 5-Slick Shifter (Clint Harvey)
Race 8: 1600m | FP: 9th of 11 | Jockey: Clint Harvey | STAB W7.90 P2.20
Jumped okay from b7 and was allowed to find his feet early, drifting back behind heels to settle 8th (2-wide). Held a similar position in the middle stages, before being asked to improve in the 3-wide line from the 600m and was under pressure when 9th (4-wide) turning for home. Failed to quicken when hard ridden at the top of the straight and worked to the line evenly late to finish 9th beaten 4.3L.
We thought Slick Shifter was quite well placed in Class 1 company on Sunday and his performance was very disappointing. We believe with the cozy run he enjoyed in transit he was entitled to finish off better than he did.
Has more than his share of ability, but we have a bit of work to do to get him to consistently perform at his best on raceday.
