Race 2: 3-Pago Minx (Troy Turner)
Race 2: 1200m | FP: 12th of 16 | Jockey: Troy Turner | STAB W35.40 P6.50
Fairly away from b10 and looked as though he would position midfield before pulling his way forward to settle 3rd (3-wide no cover). Held a similar position on the turn but began to lose ground passing the 500m and was under pressure when 4th (3-wide) swinging for home. Failed to accelerate at the top of the straight and was eased out of contention to finish 12th beaten 11.3L.
Pago Minx was very unsettled prior to this race and had used up far too much nervous energy before the gates had been opened. Has some ability but needs to be able to relax pre-race in order to produce his best.
Will try and find another suitable race for him in the coming weeks.
Race 3: 10-Bremer Babe (Clint Harvey)
Race 3: 1400m | FP: 6th of 9 | Jockey: Clint Harvey | STAB W31.70 P7.40
Fairly away from b9 and was allowed to find her feet early, dropping in behind heels to settle 7th (2-wide). Was over-racing when clipping heels and almost falling passing the 1100m, losing ground and momentum in the process. Was 8th (2-wide) passing the 800m and held a similar position on the turn, swinging for home 8th (2-wide). Was asked for an effort at the top of the straight and made up some ground in the straight, working to the line to finish 6th beaten 5.5L.
Stewards Report: Over-raced and improved onto heels and blundered at the 1100m.
Bremer Babe produced a decent performance after clipping heels and almost falling down the back straight. Did a good job to pick herself up and finish off well in the straight.
We are now planning on heading towards the Westspeed 3YO Maiden (1600m) at Pinjarra on Wednesday May 7.
Race 6: 5-Who's To Blame (Mitchell Pateman)
Race 6: 1675m | FP: 7th of 13 | Jockey: Mitchell Pateman | STAB W4.90 P2.00
Slowly away from b13 and dropped in to find some cover at the back of the field early, before settling 12th (3-wide with cover). Held a similar position in the middle stages and began to improve in the 3-wide line on the turn, swinging for home 9th (5-wide). Became unbalanced at the top of the straight and never looked a winning chance from there, working to the line evenly to finish 7th beaten 3.3L.
Stewards Report: Raced wide for the majority of the event. Lay inwards with the rider being obliged to stop riding and straighten his mount passing the 100m.
Who's To Blame turned in a satisfactory run after racing wide throughout and losing ground when shifting out sharply entering the straight. Probably would have finished a couple of lengths closer with an easier run in transit.
We are considering taking her to Albany for her next assignment and nominating her for the Ratings 58-Plus Handicap (1500m) and/or Ratings 64-Plus Handicap (2100m).
