Race 2: 7-Golden Prophetess (Clint Harvey)
Golden Prophetess is racing first-up from a spell at Albany today and showed she was on track with a solid trial win over 950m at Lark Hill on April 22.
Jumped well and shared the lead in that trial heat, before lengthening stride nicely in the straight to win with a bit in reserve.
Has drawn a little awkwardly over the 1100m today, but if she jumps well we expect her to work forward and settle better than midfield, hopefully with some cover.
There is a little bit of form in this maiden but she has come on nicely since that trial and we're expecting her to be highly competitive in this. First four chance.
Race 3: 9-Detroy County (Shaun McGruddy)
Detroy County found her rivals a bit too slick down the straight 1000 metres at Pinjarra last start (April 25), when running into a few smart three-year-olds.
Should find this assignment more to her liking but she will still need to improve a couple of lengths or two on that run to be competitive today.
Performed fairly well at her previous Albany start back in February but we would be happy if she could compete well and finish better than midfield here.
Race 6: 11-Slick Shifter (Shaun McGruddy)
Slick Shifter has struggled to find his best form at his past three outings but has not finished all that far from the winner on each occasion.
Drops back in class here following his last-start at Ascot (April 23) when he was given every chance in running from the good barrier draw, but didn't finish off as we know he can.
Did race well at Albany over 1100m earlier this campaign when allowed to drift back and finish off well in the straight. We will adopt similar tactics today and hopefully he can recapture his best form on the softer Albany circuit.
Race 7: 10-Who’s To Blame (Clint Harvey)
Who's To Blame returned to winning form with a fighting victory at Narrogin two starts back, before an even performance over 1675m at Bunbury last start (April 21).
Got a fair way back in the field from the outside barrier on that occasion and her run actually wasn't too bad, especially as she appeared to lose some momentum when turning for home awkwardly.
Looks to be well placed with the good barrier and 56.5kg, and we're expecting to be able to ride her from a position slightly better than midfield today. We'd be disappointed if she didn't finish in the first four.
